Artist Statement
As a visionary artist I bring my inner mystical experience into the form of
abstract paintings. They are not predetermined in their content, but come into being
spontaneously during my intuitive painting process during which I aim to be fully
present with intent. I seek communion with an ultimate respond to it and allow it
to take form on its own terms. I disappear in the moment of creation and
reappear in the painting when an aspect of myself is reflected in the image.
In the process I am learning to step outside of myself and discover
universal truths.
Themes of nature as essence – and within it human nature – translate
through the medium of acrylic paint on canvas, muslin or wood panel into
vivid color, fluid gesture, energetic brush strokesand rich texture. The content – cycles
of evolution, fecundity, conception and dissolution – elicits for me a wide range of
emotions from peace, joy, exuberance to awe and wonder. The biomorphic formations,
webs and clusters can be read both as microscopic or as vast expanses. I often sense
galactic proportions in the emerging spaces and shapes; at the same time
I am aware of their similarity to cell structures.
I understand my paintings as synchronistic guides that lead me and the
viewer to transform, heal and evolve. My process and transformation are
woven into the paintings and resonate with the viewer's own energy. My intent
as a painter is to inspire and accentuate the multivalant, cyclical and
interconnected nature of all things.
